'Vaisampayana said: “And seeing the Sutas lying slain, the townspeople went straight to the king and reported the matter to him, saying, ‘O King, those mighty sons of the Sutas—each fierce and renowned—have all been slain by the Gandharvas.’”' ।। 4-23-1 ।।
'Indeed, they lie scattered on the earth like the lofty summits of mountains shattered by the thunderbolt. Sairindhri too, having been set free, is now returning to thy palace in the city.' ।। 4-23-2 ।।
तथारूपा हि सैरन्ध्री गन्धर्वाश च महाबलाः पुंसाम इष्टश च विषयॊ मैथुनाय न संशयः ।। ४-२३-४ ।।
'She is endowed with wondrous beauty—and the Gandharvas who protect her are of immeasurable might. Men, indeed, are by nature driven by desire.' ।। 4-23-4 ।।
यथा सैरन्ध्रि वेषेण न ते राजन्न इदं पुरम विनाशम एति वै कषिप्रं तथा नीतिर विधीयताम ।। ४-२३-५ ।।
'Therefore, O king, devise without delay such measures that, as a consequence of wrongs done to Sairindhri, thy kingdom may be spared from destruction.' ।। 4-23-5 ।।
