सैरन्ध्री परिय संवासान नित्यं करुणवेदिनी अस्मिन राजकुले चेमौ तुल्यकालनिवासिनौ ॥ ४-१८-६ ॥

'The heart of a woman is difficult to understand, and I suspect the two are well-matched. It is likely, then, that Sairindhri weeps each time out of love for her companion. After all, they both entered this royal household at the same time.' ॥ 4-18-6 ॥

sairandhrI pariya saMvAsAna nityaM karuNavedinI asmina rAjakule cemau tulyakAlanivAsinau ॥ 4-18-6 ॥

इति बरुवाणा वाक्यानि सा मां नित्यम अवेदयत करुध्यन्तीं मां च संप्रेक्ष्य समशङ्कत मां तवयि ॥ ४-१८-७ ॥

'And speaking such words, she is always reproaching me. And when she sees me angered by it, she begins to suspect that I am attached to you.' ॥ 4-18-7 ॥

iti baruvANA vAkyAni sA mAM nityama avedayata karudhyantIM mAM ca saMprekSya samazaGkata mAM tavayi ॥ 4-18-7 ॥

तस्यां तथा बरुवत्यां तु दुःखं मां महद आविशत शॊके यौधिष्ठिरे मग्ना नाहं जीवितुम उत्सहे ॥ ४-१८-८ ॥

'Each time she speaks in this way, my grief deepens. Indeed, when I see you, O Bhima of terrible might, suffering such misfortune—while I am already weighed down with sorrow for Yudhishthira—I feel no desire to go on living.' ॥ 4-18-8 ॥

tasyAM tathA baruvatyAM tu duHkhaM mAM mahada Avizata zòke yaudhiSThire magnA nAhaM jIvituma utsahe ॥ 4-18-8 ॥

'That very youth who once, alone on his chariot, vanquished the gods, men, and serpents— alas, he is now but the dancing master of King Virata’s daughter.' ॥ 4-18-9 ॥

'The son of Pritha, whose soul knows no bounds, he who once satisfied Agni in the forest of Khandava, now dwells hidden in the inner chambers of a palace— like a fire concealed within a well.' ॥ 4-18-10 ॥

yò 'tarpayada ameyAtmA khANDave jAtavedasama sò 'nataHpura gataH pArthaH kUpe 'ganira iva saMvRtaH ॥ 4-18-10 ॥
