[दरौ] इदं तु मे महद दुःखं यत परवक्ष्यामि भारत न मे ऽभयसूया कर्तव्या दुःखाद एतद बरवीम्य अहम ॥ ४-१८-१ ॥
'Draupadi said: "This, O Bharata, that I am about to tell thee, is yet another great sorrow of mine. Do not censure me—for I speak only out of the anguish in my heart."' ॥ 4-18-1 ॥

[darau] idaM tu me mahada duHkhaM yata paravakSyAmi bhArata na me 'bhayasUyA kartavyA duHkhAda etada baravImya ahama ॥ 4-18-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशार्दूलैर महिषैः सिंहैर आगारे युध्यसे यदा कैकेय्याः परेक्षमाणायास तदा मे कश्मलॊ भवेत ॥ ४-१८-२ ॥
'Alas! When your duties in the kitchen are done and you sit meekly beside King Virata, calling yourself 'Vallava the cook', my heart sinks in despair. And when the king, in his delight, has you engage in battles with elephants for sport—while the women of the palace look on and laugh—then my soul is pierced with anguish. When you wrestle within the palace walls against lions, tigers, and wild buffaloes, as Princess Kaikeyi watches with interest, I feel faint with sorrow.' ॥ 4-18-2 ॥

zArdUlaira mahiSaiH siMhaira AgAre yudhyase yadA kaikeyyAH parekSamANAyAsa tadA me kazmalò bhaveta ॥ 4-18-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपरेक्षा समुत्थिता चापि कैकेयी ताः सत्रियॊ वदेत परेक्ष्य माम अनवद्याङ्गी कश्मलॊपहताम इव ॥ ४-१८-३ ॥
'And when Kaikeyi and her attendants rise from their seats and rush to aid me—finding no wound upon my body, only a swoon from grief.' ॥ 4-18-3 ॥

'Sairindhri is of striking beauty, and Vallava too is remarkably handsome. A woman’s heart is difficult to fathom—I believe they are well matched.' ॥ 4-18-5 ॥
