'Alas! When your duties in the kitchen are done and you sit meekly beside King Virata, calling yourself 'Vallava the cook', my heart sinks in despair. And when the king, in his delight, has you engage in battles with elephants for sport—while the women of the palace look on and laugh—then my soul is pierced with anguish. When you wrestle within the palace walls against lions, tigers, and wild buffaloes, as Princess Kaikeyi watches with interest, I feel faint with sorrow.' ।। 4-18-2 ।।
