यम उपासन्त राजानः सभायाम ऋषिभिः सह तम उपासीनम अद्यान्यं पश्य पाण्डव पाण्डवम ॥ ४-१७-२६ ॥
'O son of Pandu, that very Pandava who was once reverently attended in the royal court by kings and seers alike—behold him now, attending upon another.' ॥ 4-17-26 ॥
english translation
yama upAsanta rAjAnaH sabhAyAma RSibhiH saha tama upAsInama adyAnyaM pazya pANDava pANDavama ॥ 4-17-26 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअतदर्हं महाप्राज्ञं जीवितार्थे ऽभिसंश्रितम दृष्ट्वा कस्य न दुःखं सयाद धर्मात्मानं युधिष्ठिरम ॥ ४-१७-२७ ॥
'Alas, who could witness Yudhishthira, that noble and virtuous soul, sitting in subservience, uttering words of flattery, and not be stricken with sorrow. Who could see him—wise, righteous, and undeserving of such humiliation—serving another merely to sustain himself, and not feel pierced by grief?' ॥ 4-17-27 ॥

atadarhaM mahAprAjJaM jIvitArthe 'bhisaMzritama dRSTvA kasya na duHkhaM sayAda dharmAtmAnaM yudhiSThirama ॥ 4-17-27 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउपास्ते सम सभायां यं कृत्ष्णा वीर वसुंधरा तम उपासीनम अद्यान्यं पश्य भारत भारतम ॥ ४-१७-२८ ॥
'And he, O hero, that scion of the Bharatas who was once worshipped by the rulers of the earth—behold him now offering homage to another.' ॥ 4-17-28 ॥

upAste sama sabhAyAM yaM kRtSNA vIra vasuMdharA tama upAsInama adyAnyaM pazya bhArata bhAratama ॥ 4-17-28 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवं बहुविधैर दुःखैः पीड्यमानाम अनाथवत शॊकसारगमध्यस्थां किं मां भीम न पश्यसि ॥ ४-१७-२९ ॥
'Why then, O Bharata, dost thou not see me as one shattered by many misfortunes, as one abandoned, submerged in a sea of sorrow?' ॥ 4-17-29 ॥

evaM bahuvidhaira duHkhaiH pIDyamAnAma anAthavata zòkasAragamadhyasthAM kiM mAM bhIma na pazyasi ॥ 4-17-29 ॥
