अतदर्हं महाप्राज्ञं जीवितार्थे ऽभिसंश्रितम दृष्ट्वा कस्य न दुःखं सयाद धर्मात्मानं युधिष्ठिरम ॥ ४-१७-२७ ॥
'Alas, who could witness Yudhishthira, that noble and virtuous soul, sitting in subservience, uttering words of flattery, and not be stricken with sorrow. Who could see him—wise, righteous, and undeserving of such humiliation—serving another merely to sustain himself, and not feel pierced by grief?' ॥ 4-17-27 ॥
