शिखी सुकेशः परिधाय चान्यथा; भवस्व धन्वी कवची शरी तथा आरुह्य यानं परिधावतां भवान; सुतैः समॊ मे भव वा मया समः ॥ ४-१०-६ ॥
'Wearing a crest and beautiful hair in a different manner, Become a bowman, armored and bearing arrows, Mounting a chariot and riding about, Be equal to my sons, or be equal to me.' ॥ 4-10-6 ॥
english translation
वृद्धॊ हय अहं वै परिहार कामः; सर्वान मत्स्यांस तरसा पालयस्व नैवंविधाः कलीब रूपा भवन्ति; कथं चनेति परतिभाति मे मनः ॥ ४-१०-७ ॥
'I am old and wish to relinquish my burden. Be as a son to me, or rule alongside me over all the Matsyas. It seems impossible to me that such a person as you could truly be of neuter gender.' ॥ 4-10-7 ॥
english translation
[अर्जुन] गायामि नृत्याम्य अथ वादयामि; भद्रॊ ऽसमि नृत्ते कुशलॊ ऽसमि गीते तवम उत्तरायाः परिदत्स्व मां सवयं; भवामि देव्या नरदेव नर्तकः ॥ ४-१०-८ ॥
'Arjuna said, 'I sing, dance, and play musical instruments. I am proficient in dance and skilled in song. O lord of men, assign me to Princess Uttara as her dancing master.' ॥ 4-10-8 ॥

इदं तु रूपं मम येन किं नु तत; परकीर्तयित्वा भृशशॊकवर्धनम बृहन्नडां वै नरदेव विद्धि मां; सुतं सुतां वा पितृमातृवर्जिताम ॥ ४-१०-९ ॥
'As for how I came by this form—what purpose would it serve for you to hear an account that would only increase my suffering? Know me, O king of men, to be Brihannala, one without father or mother, neither son nor daughter to anyone.' ॥ 4-10-9 ॥

[विराट] ददामि ते हन्त वरं बृहन्नडे; सुतां च मे नर्तय याश च तादृशीः इदं तु ते कर्म समं न मे मतं; समुद्रनेमिं पृथिवीं तवम अर्हसि ॥ ४-१०-१० ॥
'Virata said, 'O Brihannala, I grant you what you desire. Instruct my daughter and others like her in dancing. To me, however, this role seems unworthy of you. You deserve dominion over the entire earth encircled by the ocean.'' ॥ 4-10-10 ॥
