Saṃjaya said: Then Bhūriśravā, O King, fiercely enraged, struck Sātyaki with nine arrows, as one would urge on a great elephant with goads.

english translation

And Sātyaki, of immeasurable spirit, showered the Kaurava with arrows whose joints were well-shaped, before the gaze of all the assembled forces.

english translation

Then King Duryodhana, surrounded by his brothers, actively took position around Saumadatti in the engagement, enclosing him on all sides.

english translation

Likewise, all the Pāṇḍavas—men of exceedingly great energy—stood in that battle, surrounding the impetuous Sātyaki on every side.

english translation

But Bhīmasena, provoked, raising his mace, O Bhārata, enclosed all your sons, with Duryodhana at their head.
