Then Vasudeva’s son, lifting with his arm the sharp-edged discus—radiant like the sun and formidable like a thunderbolt—leapt down from the chariot, releasing the horses.

english translation

The great-souled Krishna, making the earth tremble beneath his steps, rushed swiftly toward Bhishma—like a lion in the arena, pride fully aroused, moving to strike down a lordly elephant.

english translation

He charged toward Bhishma into the midst of the formation—wrathful, the younger brother of Mahendra, a forceful subduer. His trailing yellow garment shone like a cloud in the sky newly bound with lightning.

english translation

And Shauri’s Sudarshana shone—his discus like a lotus, with his strong arm as its thick stalk—just as the primordial lotus, the color of the young sun, shines forth from Narayana’s navel.

english translation

That (discus), as though awakened by the sunrise of Kṛṣṇa’s wrath, bore well-shaped “petals” with razor-edged rims and keen points; and Nārāyaṇa’s arm shone as its stalk, rising from the broad lake of his body.
