english translation

Enraged, he made the Vārṣṇeya (Kṛṣṇa) reel beneath sharp arrows; Bhīṣma smiled and laughed again and again, and then let out a thunderous cry.

english translation

Then Kṛṣṇa, in the thick of battle, seeing Bhīṣma’s prowess and observing Pārtha’s comparatively gentle manner of fighting,

english translation

—and seeing Bhīṣma, stationed between the two armies, ceaselessly unleashing showers of arrows in battle, blazing like the sun.

english translation

In Yudhiṣṭhira’s host, Bhīṣma was seen again and again subduing the foremost warriors among the troops of Pāṇḍu’s son, creating an effect like a world-ending cataclysm.
