“This great undertaking befits you alone, O Dhanaṃjaya. I am firmly pleased, my son; join battle with me.”

english translation

Having thus praised Pārtha, the hero took up another great bow and, in the engagement, loosed arrows toward Pārtha’s chariot.

english translation

Vāsudeva displayed supreme skill in driving the horse-drawn chariot, swiftly wheeling in circles and rendering Bhīṣma’s arrows futile.

english translation

Even so, Bhīṣma forcefully struck Vāsudeva and Dhanaṃjaya with sharp arrows across their bodies, O revered one.

english translation

Those two tiger-like men, wounded and marked by Bhīṣma’s arrows, shone resplendent—like two bellowing bulls bearing the traces of horn-scratches.
