Alambusa, in the fight, repeatedly checked the mighty son of Bhīmasena with arrows whose joints were finely wrought.

Thereafter the two shone in the fray, though marked by arrow-wounds—like Bala and Śakra, both mighty, in the war between devas and asuras.

english translation

O King, the mighty Śikhaṇḍī advanced in battle against Droṇa’s son. Then Aśvatthāmā, inflamed with wrath, confronted Śikhaṇḍī as he stood his ground.

english translation

Striking him hard with a very sharp iron arrow, he made him reel. Then, O King, Śikhaṇḍī in turn struck Droṇa’s son.

With well-honed, sharp, and keen missiles, the two assailed one another in the fray, striking each other with arrows of many kinds.
