सात्यकिश्च महेष्वासः कृतवर्माणमभ्ययात् । तयोः समभवद्युद्धं तुमुलं लोमहर्षणम्॥६-४३-११॥
Sātyaki, a great archer, advanced toward Kṛtavarmā; and between them there arose a tumultuous, awe-inducing battle.
english translation
सात्यकिः कृतवर्माणं कृतवर्मा च सात्यकिम् । आनर्छतुः शरैर्घोरैस्तक्षमाणौ परस्परम्॥६-४३-१२॥
Sātyaki struck at Kṛtavarmā, and Kṛtavarmā at Sātyaki, assailing one another with formidable arrows, each seeking to wear down the other.
english translation
तौ शराचितसर्वाङ्गौ शुशुभाते महाबलौ । वसन्ते पुष्पशबलौ पुष्पिताविव किंशुकौ॥६-४३-१३॥
Those two mighty warriors, their bodies covered with arrows, shone resplendent—like kiṃśuka trees in spring, mottled with blossoms and in full bloom.
english translation
अभिमन्युर्महेष्वासो बृहद्बलमयोधयत् । ततः कोसलको राजा सौभद्रस्य विशां पते । ध्वजं चिच्छेद समरे सारथिं च न्यपातयत्॥६-४३-१४॥
Abhimanyu, the great archer, engaged Bṛhadbala. Then the king of Kosala, O lord of the people, cut down Saubhadra’s standard in the engagement and caused his charioteer to fall.

सौभद्रस्तु ततः क्रुद्धः पातिते रथसारथौ । बृहद्बलं महाराज विव्याध नवभिः शरैः॥६-४३-१५॥
Then Saubhadra, angered when his charioteer had been brought down, struck Bṛhadbala, O king, with nine arrows.
