परेण सह संयुक्तः प्रमत्तो विमुखस्तथा । क्षीणशस्त्रो विवर्मा च न हन्तव्यः कथंचन॥६-१-३१॥
One who is already engaged with another, or who is heedless and inattentive, or who has turned away, or whose weapon is spent, or who is without armor—such a person is not to be struck down in any manner.
english translation
न सूतेषु न धुर्येषु न च शस्त्रोपनायिषु । न भेरीशङ्खवादेषु प्रहर्तव्यं कथंचन॥६-१-३२॥
One should not strike charioteers, nor those who bear yokes and burdens, nor those who bring weapons; nor should one strike those sounding drums and conches—under no circumstances.
english translation
एवं ते समयं कृत्वा कुरुपाण्डवसोमकाः । विस्मयं परमं जग्मुः प्रेक्षमाणाः परस्परम्॥६-१-३३॥
Having thus made their compact, the Kurus, the Pāṇḍavas, and the Somakas fell into great astonishment, looking upon one another.

निविश्य च महात्मानस्ततस्ते पुरुषर्षभाः । हृष्टरूपाः सुमनसो बभूवुः सहसैनिकाः॥६-१-३४॥
And having taken their positions, those great-souled best of men, together with their troops, became outwardly composed and inwardly confident, clear-minded, and cheerful.
