दर्शयन्ति विकारांस्तु विश्वरूपान्निसर्गतः । अपस्मारो महाव्याधिस्तस्माद्दोषज एव तु ॥२१॥

They show various forms of changes, arising naturally, as the universal manifestations of the disease. Apasmara is thus a great disease, and is caused by the imbalance of the doshas.

The treatment for this (Apasmara) is the same as for insanity, as will be described. It includes the drinking of clarified butter, anointing with oils, and regular worship.

उपयोगो ग्रहोक्तानां योगानां तु विशेषतः । ततः सिध्यन्ति ते सर्वे योगैरन्यैश्च साधयेत् । शिग्रुकट्वङ्गकिण्वाहिनिम्बत्वग्रससाधितम् ॥२३॥

The use of remedies prescribed by the Grahas (celestial beings) and specific yogic practices is especially beneficial. By using these methods, all forms of Apasmara can be successfully treated. This includes the application of oil cooked with Shigru, Katvanga, Kinna, Nimba, and other ingredients as described.

चतुर्गुणे गवां मूत्रे तैलमभ्यञ्जने हितम् । गोधानकुलनागानां पृषतर्क्षगवामपि ॥२४॥

The oil cooked with four times the quantity of cow's urine is beneficial for external application (as an unguent). It is particularly effective when prepared with the urine of cows, bulls, and the animals like the Naga (serpent), Prishataka (elephant), or the wild boar.

पित्तेषु सिद्धं तैलं च पानाभ्यङ्गेषु पूजितम् ।२५। तीक्ष्णैरुभयतोभागैः शिरश्चापि विशोधयेत् ॥२५॥

The oil, when cooked with Pitta-aggravating ingredients, is beneficial for both internal consumption and external application (as an unguent). It is especially useful for purifying the head when applied with sharp (pungent) ingredients on both the head and the body.
