अथातो विसूचिकाप्रतिषेधमध्यायं व्याख्यास्यामः ॥१॥
Now we shall discourse on the chapter which deals with the (symptoms and) medical treatment of Vishuchika type of cholera, etc.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptअजीर्णमामं विष्टब्धं विदग्धं च यदीरितम् । विसूच्यलसकौ तस्माद्भवेच्चापि विलम्बिका ॥३॥
If the indigestion is caused by Amajirna (improper digestion), Vishtabdhajirna (undigested food accumulated in the intestines), or Vidagdha-jirna (indigestion with acidity), then it can lead to Visuchika, Alasaka, or even Vilambika.

यदि अपच आमाजीर्ण (अनुचित पाचन), विष्टाब्धजीर्ण (आंत में संचित अपच भोजन) या विदग्धाजीर्ण (अम्लता के साथ अपच) के कारण होता है, तो यह विसूचिका, अलासक या विलम्बिका भी हो सकता है।

hk transliteration by Sanscriptसूचीभिरिव गात्राणि तुदन् सन्तिष्ठतेऽनिलः । यस्याजीर्णेन सा वैद्यैरुच्यते ति विसूचिका ॥४॥
The body, being struck by the deranged Vayu (air), remains stationary as if pierced by needles. This condition, caused by indigestion, is referred to as Visuchika by physicians.

विक्षिप्त वायु के आघात से शरीर स्थिर रहता है, मानो सुई चुभो दी गई हो। अपच के कारण होने वाली इस स्थिति को चिकित्सक विसूचिका कहते हैं।

sUcIbhiriva gAtrANi tudan santiSThate'nilaH । yasyAjIrNena sA vaidyairucyate ti visUcikA ॥4॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन तां परिमिताहारा लभन्ते विदितागमाः । मूढास्तामजितात्मानो लभन्ते कलुषाशयाः ॥५॥
Those who are moderate in their diet, and knowledgeable in the scriptures, do not suffer from it. It is the foolish, with uncontrolled minds and impure dispositions, who fall victim to it.

जो लोग संयमित आहार-विहार करते हैं तथा शास्त्रों के ज्ञाता हैं, उन्हें यह रोग नहीं होता। केवल मूर्ख, अनियंत्रित मन और अशुद्ध स्वभाव वाले लोग ही इसके शिकार होते हैं।
