सर्षपाः सर्पनिर्मोको वचा काकादनी घृतम् । उष्ट्राजाविगवां चैव रोमाण्युद्धूपनं शिशोः ॥६॥
Mustard seeds, snake skin, Vaca, Kakadani, and clarified butter, along with the hair of a camel, goat, or cow, should be used for fumigating the body of the child.

The twigs of Soma-balli (Guduci), Indra-balli (Ashmantaka), Shami, the thorns of Bilva, and the roots of Mrigadani should be tied together and worn as a garland.

Red garlands, red flags, various kinds of red perfumes, and edibles should be offered. A bell should be rung, and a sacrifice (offering) should be made to the deity, with the intention of appeasing Skanda-Graha.

लाल माला, लाल पताका, विभिन्न प्रकार के लाल इत्र और खाद्य पदार्थ चढ़ाने चाहिए। घंटी बजानी चाहिए और स्कंद-ग्रह को प्रसन्न करने के इरादे से देवता को बलि (भेंट) चढ़ानी चाहिए।

Bathing should be performed for three consecutive nights in the inner quadrangle of the house, with newly harvested Shali rice. The water for the bath should be consecrated by reciting the Gayatri Mantra, and the sacrificial fire should be kindled with recitations of the Vyahrti and other mantras, along with offerings of clarified butter.

घर के भीतरी चतुर्भुज में तीन रात तक लगातार स्नान करना चाहिए, जिसमें नए कटे हुए शालि चावल हों। स्नान के जल को गायत्री मंत्र से पवित्र करना चाहिए, तथा व्याहृति और अन्य मंत्रों के उच्चारण के साथ हवन की अग्नि प्रज्वलित करनी चाहिए, साथ ही घी की आहुति देनी चाहिए।

I shall now describe the protective measure, which is the destroyer of sins for children. It should be performed every day by the physicians, who are free from sleep and vigilant.

अब मैं बालकों के पापों का नाश करने वाले रक्षा-उपाय का वर्णन करूँगा। इसे निद्रा से मुक्त तथा सतर्क रहने वाले चिकित्सकों द्वारा प्रतिदिन किया जाना चाहिए।
