प्रमार्जनं धावनं च वीक्ष्य वीक्ष्यावचारयेत् । राजवृक्षादितोयेन सुरसादिगणेन वा ॥४१॥
One should perform cleaning (Pramarjana) and washing (Dhavana) while observing and considering the effects of the treatment. This can be done using water from a royal tree or a mixture of substances such as Surasa and other similar items.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptकर्णप्रक्षालनं कार्यं चूर्णैरेषां च पूरणम् । क्वाथं पञ्चकषायं तु कपित्थरसयोजितम् ॥४२॥
The ear should be cleaned (Karnaprashalana) using powders of these substances and also filled with a decoction (Kwatha) made from a mixture of five astringent herbs (Panchakashay) combined with the juice of the kapitha fruit.
