नारद उवाच सैनिका भयनाम्नो ये बर्हिष्मन् दिष्टकारिणः । प्रज्वारकालकन्याभ्यां विचेरुरवनीमिमाम् ॥ ४-२८-१ ॥
The great sage Nārada continued: My dear King Prācīnabarhiṣat, afterward the King of the Yavanas, whose name is fear itself, as well as Prajvāra, Kālakanyā, and his soldiers, began to travel all over the world. ॥ 4-28-1 ॥
english translation
नारद मुनि ने आगे कहा : हे राजा प्राचीनबर्हिषत्, तत्पश्चात् यवनराज साक्षात् भय, प्रज्वार, काल-कन्या तथा अपने सैनिकों सहित सारे संसार में विचरने लगा। ॥ ४-२८-१ ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptत एकदा तु रभसा पुरञ्जनपुरीं नृप । रुरुधुर्भौमभोगाढ्यां जरत्पन्नगपालिताम् ॥ ४-२८-२ ॥
Once the dangerous soldiers attacked the city of Purañjana with great force. Although the city was full of paraphernalia for sense gratification, it was being protected by the old serpent. ॥ 4-28-2 ॥
english translation
एक बार इन भयानक सैनिकों ने पुरञ्जन-नगरी पर बड़े वेग से आक्रमण किया। यद्यपि यह नगरी भोग की सारी सामग्री से परिपूर्ण थी, किन्तु इसकी रखवाली एक बूढ़ा सर्प कर रहा था। ॥ ४-२८-२ ॥

ta ekadA tu rabhasA puraJjanapurIM nRpa । rurudhurbhaumabhogADhyAM jaratpannagapAlitAm ॥ 4-28-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकालकन्यापि बुभुजे पुरञ्जनपुरं बलात् । ययाभिभूतः पुरुषः सद्यो निःसारतामियात् ॥ ४-२८-३ ॥
Gradually Kālakanyā, with the help of dangerous soldiers, attacked all the inhabitants of Purañjana’s city and thus rendered them useless for all purposes. ॥ 4-28-3 ॥

धीरे-धीरे कालकन्या ने घातक सैनिकों की सहायता से पुरञ्जन की नगरी के समस्त वासियों पर आक्रमण कर दिया और उन्हें सभी प्रकार से निकम्मा बना दिया। ॥ ४-२८-३ ॥

kAlakanyApi bubhuje puraJjanapuraM balAt । yayAbhibhUtaH puruSaH sadyo niHsAratAmiyAt ॥ 4-28-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतयोपभुज्यमानां वै यवनाः सर्वतोदिशम् । द्वार्भिः प्रविश्य सुभृशं प्रार्दयन् सकलां पुरीम् ॥ ४-२८-४ ॥
When Kālakanyā, daughter of Time, attacked the body, the dangerous soldiers of the King of the Yavanas entered the city through different gates. They then began to give severe trouble to all the citizens. ॥ 4-28-4 ॥
english translation
जब कालकन्या ने शरीर पर आक्रमण किया, तो यवनराज के घातक सैनिक विभिन्न द्वारों से नगरी में घुस आये। फिर वे सभी नागरिकों को अत्यधिक कष्ट देने लगे। ॥ ४-२८-४ ॥

tayopabhujyamAnAM vai yavanAH sarvatodizam । dvArbhiH pravizya subhRzaM prArdayan sakalAM purIm ॥ 4-28-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्यां प्रपीड्यमानायामभिमानी पुरञ्जनः । अवापोरुविधांस्तापान् कुटुम्बी ममताऽऽकुलः ॥ ४-२८-५ ॥
When the city was thus endangered by the soldiers and Kālakanyā, King Purañjana, being overly absorbed in affection for his family, was placed in difficulty by the attack of Yavana-rāja and Kālakanyā. ॥ 4-28-5 ॥
english translation
जब इस प्रकार वह नगरी सैनिकों तथा कालकन्या के द्वारा विपदाग्रस्त हो गई तो अपने परिवार की ममता में लिप्त राजा पुरञ्जन यवनराज तथा काल-कन्या के आक्रमण से संकट में पड़ गया। ॥ ४-२८-५ ॥
