एवं कर्मसु संसक्तः कामात्मा वञ्चितोऽबुधः । महिषी यद्यदीहेत तत्तदेवान्ववर्तत ।। ४-१५-५६ ।।

sanskrit

Being thus entangled in different types of mental concoction and engaged in fruitive activities, King Purañjana came completely under the control of material intelligence and was thus cheated. Indeed, he used to fulfill all the desires of his wife, the Queen. ।। 4-25-56 ।।

english translation

इस प्रकार विभिन्न प्रकार के मानसिक उहापोह तथा सकाम कर्मों में फँसा रह कर राजा पुरञ्जन पूर्ण रूप से भौतिक बुद्धि के वश में हो गया और ठगा गया। वह दरअसल ही अपनी रानी की समस्त इच्छाओं को पूरा किया करता था। ।। ४-२५-५६ ।।

क्वचित्पिबन्त्यां पिबति मदिरां मदविह्वलः । अश्नन्त्यां क्वचिदश्नाति जक्षत्यां सह जक्षिति ।। ४-२५-५७ ।।

sanskrit

When the Queen drank liquor, King Purañjana also engaged in drinking. When the Queen dined, he used to dine with her, and when she chewed, King Purañjana used to chew along with her. ।। 4-25-57 ।।

english translation

जब रानी मद्यपान करती तो राजा पुरञ्जन भी मदिरा पीने में व्यस्त रहता। जब रानी भोजन करती तो वह भी उसके साथ-साथ खाता; जब वह चबाती तो वह भी साथ-साथ चबाता। ।। ४-२५-५७ ।।

kvacitpibantyAM pibati madirAM madavihvalaH | aznantyAM kvacidaznAti jakSatyAM saha jakSiti || 4-25-57 ||

क्वचिद्गायति गायन्त्यां रुदत्यां रुदति क्वचित् । क्वचिद्धसन्त्यां हसति जल्पन्त्यामनु जल्पति ।। ४-२५-५८ ।।

When the Queen sang, he also sang. Similarly, when the Queen cried, he also cried, and when the Queen laughed, he also laughed. When the Queen talked loosely,He also talked loosely, ।। 4-25-58 ।।

english translation

जब रानी गाती तो राजा भी गाता। इसी प्रकार जब रानी रोती तो वह रोता और जब-जब रानी हँसती तो वह भी हँसता। जब रानी अनाप-शनाप बोलती तो वह भी उसी तरह बोलता करता ।। ४-२५-५८ ।।

kvacidgAyati gAyantyAM rudatyAM rudati kvacit | kvaciddhasantyAM hasati jalpantyAmanu jalpati || 4-25-58 ||

क्वचिद्धावति धावन्त्यां तिष्ठन्त्यामनु तिष्ठति । अनु शेते शयानायामन्वास्ते क्वचिदासतीम् ।। ४-२५-५९ ।।

And when the Queen walked, the King walked behind her. When the Queen would stand still, the King would also stand still, and when the Queen would lie down in bed, he would also follow and lie down with her. When the Queen sat, he would also sit, ।। 4-25-59 ।।

english translation

और जब रानी चलती तो वह उसके पीछे हो लेता। जब रानी शान्त भाव से खड़ी होती तो वह भी खड़ा रहता और जब रानी बिस्तर में लेट जाती तो वह भी लेट जाता। जब रानी बैठती तो वह भी बैठ जाता ।। ४-२५-५९ ।।

kvaciddhAvati dhAvantyAM tiSThantyAmanu tiSThati | anu zete zayAnAyAmanvAste kvacidAsatIm || 4-25-59 ||

क्वचिच्छृणोति श‍ृण्वन्त्यां पश्यन्त्यामनु पश्यति । क्वचिज्जिघ्रति जिघ्रन्त्यां स्पृशन्त्यां स्पृशति क्वचित् ।। ४-२५-६० ।।

And when the Queen heard something, he would follow her to hear the same thing. When the Queen saw something, the King would also look at it, and when the Queen smelled something, the King would follow her to smell the same thing. When the Queen touched something, the King would also touch it, ।। 4-25-60 ।।

english translation

और जब रानी कुछ सुनती तो वह भी वही सुनता। जब रानी कोई वस्तु देखती तो वह भी उसी को देखता और जब रानी कुछ सूँघती तो राजा भी उसी को सूँघने लगता। जब रानी कुछ छूती तो राजा भी उसे छूता था ।। ४-२५-६० ।।

kvacicchRNoti za‍RNvantyAM pazyantyAmanu pazyati | kvacijjighrati jighrantyAM spRzantyAM spRzati kvacit || 4-25-60 ||
