Srimad Bhagavatam
स वै विश्वसृजां गर्भो देवकर्मात्मशक्तिमान् । विबभाजात्मनाऽऽत्मानमेकधा दशधा त्रिधा ॥ ३-६-७ ॥
The total energy of the mahat-tattva, in the form of the gigantic virāṭ-rūpa, divided Himself by Himself into the consciousness of the living entities, the life of activity, and self-identification, which are subdivided into one, ten and three respectively. ॥ 3-6-7 ॥
english translation
विराट रूप में महत् तत्त्व की समग्र शक्ति ने स्वत: अपने को जीवों की चेतना, जीवन की क्रियाशीलता तथा आत्म-पहचान के रूप में विभाजित कर लिया जो एक, दस तथा तीन में क्रमश: उपविभाजित हो गए हैं। ॥ ३-६-७ ॥
