यथाक्ष्णोर्द्रव्यावयवदर्शनायोग्यता यदा । तदैव चक्षुषो द्रष्टुर्द्रष्टृत्वायोग्यतानयोः ।। ३-३१-४६ ।।

sanskrit

In the same way, when the physical body, the place where perception of objects occurs, is rendered incapable of perceiving, that is known as death. When one begins to view the physical body as one’s very self, that is called birth. ।। 3-31-46 ।।

english translation

इसी प्रकार जब भौतिक शरीर, जो वस्तुओं की अनुभूति का स्थल है, अनुभव करना बन्द कर देता है, तो इस अयोग्यता को मृत्यु कहते हैं। जब मनुष्य शरीर को स्व मानने लगता है, तो इसे जन्म कहते हैं। ।। ३-३१-४६ ।।
