ककुद्मतोऽविद्धनसो दमित्वा स्वयंवरे नाग्नजितीमुवाह । तद्भग्नमानानपि गृध्यतोऽज्ञान् जघ्नेऽक्षतः शस्त्रभृतः स्वशस्त्रैः ।। ३-३-४ ।।

By subduing seven bulls whose noses were not pierced, the Lord achieved the hand of Princess Nāgnijitī in the open competition to select her bridegroom. Although the Lord was victorious, His competitors asked the hand of the princess, and thus there was a fight. Well equipped with weapons, the Lord killed or wounded all of them, but He Himself was not hurt. ।। 3-3-4 ।।

english translation

बिना नथ वाले सात बैलों का दमन करके भगवान् ने स्वयंवर की खुली स्पर्धा में राजकुमारी नाग्नजिती का हाथ प्राप्त किया। यद्यपि भगवान् विजयी हुए, किन्तु उनके प्रत्याशियों ने राजकुमारी का हाथ चाहा, अत: युद्ध हुआ। अत: शस्त्रों से अच्छी तरह लैस, भगवान् ने उन सबों को मार डाला या घायल कर दिया, परन्तु स्वयं उन्हें कोई चोट नहीं आई। ।। ३-३-४ ।।
