न त्वं द्विजोत्तमकुलं यदि हात्मगोपं गोप्ता वृषः स्वर्हणेन स सूनृतेन । तर्ह्येव नङ्क्ष्यति शिवस्तव देव पन्था लोकोऽग्रहीष्यदृषभस्य हि तत्प्रमाणम् ।। ३-१६-२३ ।।

sanskrit

O Lord, You are the protector of the highest of the twice-born. If You do not protect them by offering worship and mild words, then certainly the auspicious path of worship will be rejected by people in general, who act on the strength and authority of Your Lordship. ।। 3-16-23 ।।

english translation

हे प्रभु, आप सर्वोच्च द्विजों के रक्षक हैं। यदि आप पूजा तथा मृदु वचनों को अर्पित करके उनकी रक्षा न करें तो निश्चित है कि पूजा का शुभ मार्ग उन सामान्यजनों द्वारा परित्यक्त कर दिया जाएगा जो आपके बल तथा प्रभुत्व पर कर्म करते हैं। ।। ३-१६-२३ ।।

na tvaM dvijottamakulaM yadi hAtmagopaM goptA vRSaH svarhaNena sa sUnRtena | tarhyeva naGkSyati zivastava deva panthA loko'grahISyadRSabhasya hi tatpramANam || 3-16-23 ||
