Lord Brahmā said: After thus congratulating the sages for their nice words, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, whose abode is in the kingdom of God, spoke as follows. ।। 3-16-1 ।।

ब्रह्माजी ने कहा : इस तरह मुनियों को उनके मनोहर शब्दों के लिए बधाई देते हुए भगवद्धाम में निवास करनेवाले पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् ने इस प्रकार कहा। ।। ३-१६-१ ।।
श्रीभगवानुवाच एतौ तौ पार्षदौ मह्यं जयो विजय एव च । कदर्थीकृत्य मां यद्वो बह्वक्रातामतिक्रमम् ।। ३-१६-२ ।।
The Personality of Godhead said: These attendants of Mine, Jaya and Vijaya by name, have committed a great offense against you because of ignoring Me. ।। 3-16-2 ।।

भगवान् ने कहा : जय तथा विजय नामक मेरे इन परिचरों ने मेरी अवज्ञा करके आपके प्रति महान् अपराध किया है। ।। ३-१६-२ ।।

zrIbhagavAnuvAca etau tau pArSadau mahyaM jayo vijaya eva ca | kadarthIkRtya mAM yadvo bahvakrAtAmatikramam || 3-16-2 ||
तद्वः प्रसादयाम्यद्य ब्रह्म दैवं परं हि मे । तद्धीत्यात्मकृतं मन्ये यत्स्वपुम्भिरसत्कृताः ।। ३-१६-४ ।।
To Me, the brāhmaṇa is the highest and most beloved personality. The disrespect shown by My attendants has actually been displayed by Me because the doormen are My servitors. I take this to be an offense by Myself; therefore I seek your forgiveness for the incident that has arisen. ।। 3-16-4 ।।

मेरे लिए ब्राह्मण सर्वोच्च तथा सर्वाधिक प्रिय व्यक्ति है। मेरे सेवकों द्वारा दिखाया गया अनादर वास्तव में मेरे द्वारा प्रदर्शित हुआ है, क्योंकि वे द्वारपाल मेरे सेवक हैं। इसे मैं अपने द्वारा किया गया अपराध मानता हूँ, इसलिए मैं घटी हुई इस घटना के लिए आपसे क्षमा चाहता हूँ। ।। ३-१६-४ ।।

tadvaH prasAdayAmyadya brahma daivaM paraM hi me | taddhItyAtmakRtaM manye yatsvapumbhirasatkRtAH || 3-16-4 ||
A wrong act committed by a servant leads people in general to blame his master, just as a spot of white leprosy on any part of the body pollutes all of the skin. ।। 3-16-5 ।।

किसी सेवक द्वारा किये गये गलत कार्य से सामान्य तौर पर लोग उसके स्वामी को दोष देते हैं जिस तरह शरीर के किसी भी अंग पर श्वेत कुष्ट के धब्बे सारे चमड़ी को दूषित बना देते हैं। ।। ३-१६-५ ।।
