चातुर्होत्रं कर्मतन्त्रमुपवेदनयैः सह । धर्मस्य पादाश्चत्वारस्तथैवाश्रमवृत्तयः ।। ३-१२-३५ ।।

sanskrit

The four kinds of paraphernalia for conducting the fire sacrifice became manifest: the performer [the chanter], the offerer, the fire, and the action performed in terms of the supplementary Vedas. Also the four principles of religiosity [truth, austerity, mercy and cleanliness] and the duties in the four social orders all became manifest. ।। 3-12-35 ।।

english translation

अग्नि यज्ञ को समाहित करने वाली चार प्रकार की साज-सामग्री प्रकट हुई। ये प्रकार हैं यज्ञकर्ता, होता, अग्नि तथा उपवेदों के रूप में सम्पन्न कर्म। धर्म के चार सिद्धान्त (सत्य, तप, दया, शौच) एवं चारों आश्रमों के कर्तव्य भी प्रकट हुए। ।। ३-१२-३५ ।।
