My heart beats. My mind is depressed.' To these words of king Dasharatha the great ascetic Vahsishtha . - ॥ 1-74-12॥

    घोरास्तु पक्षिणो वाचो व्याहरन्ति समंततः । भौमाश्चैव मृगाः सर्वे गच्छन्ति स्म प्रदक्षिणम् ॥ १-७४-१०ghorAstu pakSiNo vAco vyAharanti samaMtataH । bhaumAzcaiva mRgAH sarve gacchanti sma pradakSiNam ॥ 1-74-10- he observed here and there frightening birds making disagreeable sounds. And also all of the earth bound beasts on the way rushing to the right. ॥ 1-74-10॥

    ऋषीन् सर्वान् पुरस्कृत्य जगाम सबलानुगः । गच्छन्तं तु नरव्याघ्रं सर्षिसंघं सराघवम् ॥ १-७४-९RSIn sarvAn puraskRtya jagAma sabalAnugaH । gacchantaM tu naravyAghraM sarSisaMghaM sarAghavam ॥ 1-74-9- proceeded, keeping all the sages in the fore, while his forces followed him. While this tiger among men Dasharatha was returning with the hosts of sages and young Raghava-s, ( his sons Rama, Laksmana, Bharata, Shatrughna ) - ॥ 1-74-9॥

    प्रविवेश स्वनिलयं मिथिलां मिथिलेश्वरः । राजाप्ययोध्याधिपतिः सह पुत्रैर्महात्मभिः ॥ १-७४-८praviveza svanilayaM mithilAM mithilezvaraH । rAjApyayodhyAdhipatiH saha putrairmahAtmabhiH ॥ 1-74-8the sovereign of Mithila, Janaka, re-entered his own palace in Mithila. The king Dasharatha, the sovereign of Ayodhya also, with his noble-souled sons - ॥ 1-74-8॥

    ददौ राजा सुसंहृष्टः कन्याधनमनुत्तमम् । दत्त्वा बहुविधं राजा समनुज्ञाप्य पार्थिवम् ॥ १-७४-७dadau rAjA susaMhRSTaH kanyAdhanamanuttamam । dattvA bahuvidhaM rAjA samanujJApya pArthivam ॥ 1-74-7- as bridal riches given by immensely delighted King Janaka. King ( Janaka ), having given many kinds of bridal gifts ( and having accompanied his daughters for a distance ), then having received a bid adieu from king Dasharatha - ॥ 1-74-7॥

    ददौ कन्याशतं तासां दासीदासमनुत्तमम् । हिरण्यस्य सुवर्णस्य मुक्तानां विद्रुमस्य च ॥ १-७४-६dadau kanyAzataM tAsAM dAsIdAsamanuttamam । hiraNyasya suvarNasya muktAnAM vidrumasya ca ॥ 1-74-6- hundreds of excellent male and maidservants to the brides. And also gold, silver, pearls and corals . - ॥ 1-74-6॥

    कंबलानां च मुख्यानां क्षौमान् कोट्यंबराणि च । हस्त्यश्वरथपादातं दिव्यरूपं स्वलंकृतम् ॥ १-७४-५kaMbalAnAM ca mukhyAnAM kSaumAn koTyaMbarANi ca । hastyazvarathapAdAtaM divyarUpaM svalaMkRtam ॥ 1-74-5- many excellent shawls and crores of silk garments, four divisions of army, elephants, horses, chariots and infantry and welldecorated and shining in celestial beauty . - ॥ 1-74-5॥

    अथ राजा विदेहानां ददौ कन्याधनं बहु । गवां शतसहस्राणि बहूनि मिथिलेश्वरः ॥ १-७४-४atha rAjA videhAnAM dadau kanyAdhanaM bahu । gavAM zatasahasrANi bahUni mithilezvaraH ॥ 1-74-4Then that king Janaka of Mithila, the one from Videha lineage, gave innumerable patrimonial riches. He also gave umpteen number of cows - ॥ 1-74-4॥

    आपृष्ट्वाऽथ जगामाशु राजा दशरथ: पुरीम् गच्छन्तं तं तु राजानमन्वगच्छन्नराधिप: ॥ १-७४-३ApRSTvA'tha jagAmAzu rAjA dazaratha: purIm gacchantaM taM tu rAjAnamanvagacchannarAdhipa: ॥ 1-74-3- took leave and speedily set out for the city of Ayodhya. King Janaka followed king Dasaratha for some distance on his journey to Ayodhya. ॥ 1-74-3॥
