    वन वासे हि जानामि दुह्खानि बहुधा किल । प्राप्यन्ते नियतम् वीर पुरुषैः अकृत आत्मभिः ॥ २-२९-१२vana vAse hi jAnAmi duhkhAni bahudhA kila । prApyante niyatam vIra puruSaiH akRta AtmabhiH ॥ 2-29-12I am aware, Oh ! valiant one, that there are hardships of every kind in forest life. But they befall those whose senses are not under their control. ॥ 2-29-12॥

    कृतादेशा भविष्यामि गमिष्यामि सह त्वया । कालश्चायं समुत्पन्न स्सत्यवाग्भवतु द्विजः ॥ २-२९-११kRtAdezA bhaviSyAmi gamiSyAmi saha tvayA । kAlazcAyaM samutpanna ssatyavAgbhavatu dvijaH ॥ 2-29-11I will go with you, true to the prediction of the brahmin. That time has come and let his prediction come to pass. ॥ 2-29-11॥

I must accompany you to the forest and it cannot be otherwise. ॥ 2-29-10॥

    अथ चापि महाप्राज्ञ ब्राह्मणानां मया श्रुतम् । पुरा पितृगृहे सत्यं वस्तव्यं किल मे वने ॥ २-२९-८atha cApi mahAprAjJa brAhmaNAnAM mayA zrutam । purA pitRgRhe satyaM vastavyaM kila me vane ॥ 2-29-8Oh ! highly sagacious one ( Rama ), I had also heard in my father's house long ago, from brahmins prophesing that some day I shall have certainly to dwell in the forest. ॥ 2-29-8॥

    पतिहीना तु या नारी न सा शक्ष्यति जीवितुम् । काममेवं विधं राम त्वया मम निदर्शितम् ॥ २-२९-७patihInA tu yA nArI na sA zakSyati jIvitum । kAmamevaM vidhaM rAma tvayA mama nidarzitam ॥ 2-29-7Your salutary instruction to me, Oh ! Rama, is 'A woman cannot live without her husband'. This truth is greatly applicable to me. ॥ 2-29-7॥

    न हि मां त्वत्समीपस्थामपि शक्नोतिराघव । सुराणाम् ईश्वरः शक्रः प्रधर्षयितुमोजसा ॥ २-२९-६na hi mAM tvatsamIpasthAmapi zaknotirAghava । surANAm IzvaraH zakraH pradharSayitumojasA ॥ 2-29-6If I am in your company, Oh ! Raaghava, even the lord of the gods, Indra with all his might will not be able to hurt me. ॥ 2-29-6॥
