    अभिद्रवति मामीश शरस्तप्तायसो विभो । कामं दहतु मां नाथ मा मे गर्भो निपात्यताम् ।। १-८-१० ।।abhidravati mAmIza zarastaptAyaso vibho | kAmaM dahatu mAM nAtha mA me garbho nipAtyatAm || 1-8-10 ||O my Lord, You are all-powerful. A fiery iron arrow is coming towards me fast. My Lord, let it burn me personally, if You so desire, but please do not let it burn and abort my embryo. Please do me this favor, my Lord. ।। 1-8-10 ।।

You are the greatest of mystics. Please protect me, protect me, for there is no one else who can save me from the clutches of death in this world of duality. ।। 1-8-9 ।।

    आमन्त्र्य पाण्डुपुत्रांश्च शैनेयोद्धवसंयुतः । द्वैपायनादिभिर्विप्रैः पूजितैः प्रतिपूजितः ।। १-८-७ ।।Amantrya pANDuputrAMzca zaineyoddhavasaMyutaH | dvaipAyanAdibhirvipraiH pUjitaiH pratipUjitaH || 1-8-7 ||Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa then prepared for His departure. He invited the sons of Pāṇḍu, after having been worshiped by the brāhmaṇas, headed by Śrīla Vyāsadeva. The Lord also reciprocated greetings. ।। 1-8-7 ।।

    अनर्थोपशमं साक्षाद्भक्तियोगमधोक्षजे । लोकस्याजानतो विद्वांश्चक्रे सात्वतसंहिताम् ।। १-८-६ ।।anarthopazamaM sAkSAdbhaktiyogamadhokSaje | lokasyAjAnato vidvAMzcakre sAtvatasaMhitAm || 1-8-6 ||Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa caused three well-performed aśvamedha-yajñas [horse sacrifices] to be conducted by Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira and thus caused his virtuous fame to be glorified in all directions, like that of Indra, who had performed one hundred such sacrifices. ।। 1-8-6 ।।

    साधयित्वाजातशत्रोः स्वं राज्यं कितवैर्हृतम् । घातयित्वासतो राज्ञः कचस्पर्शक्षतायुषः ।। १-८-५ ।।sAdhayitvAjAtazatroH svaM rAjyaM kitavairhRtam | ghAtayitvAsato rAjJaH kacasparzakSatAyuSaH || 1-8-5 ||The clever Duryodhana and his party cunningly usurped the kingdom of Yudhiṣṭhira, who had no enemy. By the grace of the Lord, the recovery was executed, and the unscrupulous kings who joined with Duryodhana were killed by Him. Others also died, their duration of life having decreased for their rough handling of the hair of Queen Draupadī. ।। 1-8-5 ।।

    सान्त्वयामास मुनिभिर्हतबन्धूञ्शुचार्पितान् । भूतेषु कालस्य गतिं दर्शयन्नप्रतिक्रियाम् ।। १-८-४ ।।sAntvayAmAsa munibhirhatabandhUJzucArpitAn | bhUteSu kAlasya gatiM darzayannapratikriyAm || 1-8-4 ||Citing the stringent laws of the Almighty and their reactions upon living beings, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa and the munis began to pacify those who were shocked and affected. ।। 1-8-4 ।।

    तत्रासीनं कुरुपतिं धृतराष्ट्रं सहानुजम् । गान्धारीं पुत्रशोकार्तां पृथां कृष्णां च माधवः ।। १-८-३ ।।tatrAsInaM kurupatiM dhRtarASTraM sahAnujam | gAndhArIM putrazokArtAM pRthAM kRSNAM ca mAdhavaH || 1-8-3 ||There sat the King of the Kurus, Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira, along with his younger brothers and Dhṛtarāṣṭra, Gāndhārī, Kuntī and Draupadī, all overwhelmed with grief. Lord Kṛṣṇa was also there. ।। 1-8-3 ।।

    तेनिनीयोदकं सर्वे विलप्य चभृशं पुनः । आप्लुता हरिपादाब्जरजःपूतसरिज्जले ।। १-८-२ ।।teninIyodakaM sarve vilapya cabhRzaM punaH | AplutA haripAdAbjarajaHpUtasarijjale || 1-8-2 ||Having lamented over them and sufficiently offered Ganges water, they bathed in the Ganges, whose water is sanctified due to being mixed with the dust of the lotus feet of the Lord. ।। 1-8-2 ।।
