    विविधास्तत्र वै नागा वने तस्मिंश्च पर्वते । ऋषेस्तत्र मतङ्गस्य विधानात्तच्च काननम् ॥ ३-७३-२९vividhAstatra vai nAgA vane tasmiMzca parvate । RSestatra mataGgasya vidhAnAttacca kAnanam ॥ 3-73-29- forbidden by sage Matanga in the forest. ( Though ) there are many elephants in the forest and on the mountain. ॥ 3-73-29॥

    आश्रमस्थानमतुलं गुह्यं काकुत्स्थ पश्यसि । न तत्राक्रमितुं नागाश्शक्नुवन्ति तमाश्रमम् ॥ ३-७३-२८AzramasthAnamatulaM guhyaM kAkutstha pazyasi । na tatrAkramituM nAgAzzaknuvanti tamAzramam ॥ 3-73-28- you will see an incomparable site of hermitage. Oh ! Kakutstha ( Rama ), that ( hermitage ) is concealed in a remote place. There, the elephants cannot attack that hermitage . - ॥ 3-73-28॥

    दृष्ट्वा देवोपमं राम स्वर्गलोकं गमिष्यति । ततस्तद्राम पम्पायास्तीरमासाद्य पश्चिमम् ॥ ३-७३-२७dRSTvA devopamaM rAma svargalokaM gamiSyati । tatastadrAma pampAyAstIramAsAdya pazcimam ॥ 3-73-27- Oh ! Rama, you are godlike. When she sees you, she will attain heaven. Oh ! Rama, thereafter, on reaching the western bank of Pampa - ॥ 3-37-27॥

    श्रमणी शबरी नाम काकुत्स्थ चिरजीविनी । त्वां तु धर्मे स्थिता नित्यं सर्वभूतनमस्कृतम् ॥ ३-७३-२६zramaNI zabarI nAma kAkutstha cirajIvinI । tvAM tu dharme sthitA nityaM sarvabhUtanamaskRtam ॥ 3-73-26- named Sabari, an old ascetic is there living for long years. She is always established in righteousness and revered by all beings - ॥ 3-73-26॥

    स्वेदबिन्दुसमुत्थानि न विनश्यन्ति राघव । तेषां गतानामद्यापि दृश्यते परिचारिणी ॥ ३-७३-२५svedabindusamutthAni na vinazyanti rAghava । teSAM gatAnAmadyApi dRzyate paricAriNI ॥ 3-73-25Oh ! Raghava, since those flowers have emerged from sweat-drops, they are imperishable, indeed. Though they ( sages ) have left long ago, even now their attendant - ॥ 3-73-25॥

    ये प्रपेतुर्महीं तूर्णं शरीरात्स्वेदबिन्दवः । तानि जातानि माल्यानि मुनीनां तपसा तदा ॥ ३-७३-२४ye prapeturmahIM tUrNaM zarIrAtsvedabindavaH । tAni jAtAni mAlyAni munInAM tapasA tadA ॥ 3-73-24- and they were sweating and all of those earthbound strings of sweat-drops that quickly dropped from their bodies were wafted by air onto trees, and on them they reoccurred as strings of flowers, by the merit of the ascesis of those sages. ॥ 3-73-24॥

    मतङ्गशिष्यास्तत्राऽसन्नृषयस्सुसमाहिताः । तेषां भाराभितप्तानां वन्यमाहरतां गुरोः ॥ ३-७३-२३mataGgaziSyAstatrA'sannRSayassusamAhitAH । teSAM bhArAbhitaptAnAM vanyamAharatAM guroH ॥ 3-73-23Erst there were self-collected sages, the disciples of Sage Matanga, and at one time while they were bringing the forest produce as ritual paraphernalia, they were much wearied by its weight . - ॥ 3-73-23॥

    न तानि कश्चिन्माल्यानि तत्रारोपयिता नरः । न च वै म्लानतां यान्ति न च शीर्यन्ति राघव ॥ ३-७३-२२na tAni kazcinmAlyAni tatrAropayitA naraH । na ca vai mlAnatAM yAnti na ca zIryanti rAghava ॥ 3-73-22There is no one to wear those flowers. Those garlands do not wilt or wither, Oh ! Rama. ॥ 3-73-22॥

    सुमनोभिश्चितांस्तत्र तिलकान्नक्तमालकान् । उत्पलानि च फुल्लानि पङ्कजानि च राघव ॥ ३-७३-२१sumanobhizcitAMstatra tilakAnnaktamAlakAn । utpalAni ca phullAni paGkajAni ca rAghava ॥ 3-73-21Oh ! son of the Raghus, there you will see tilaka trees, night jasmines full of flowers. You will also see blossoming water lilies and lotuses in Pampa. ॥ 3-73-21॥

    सायाह्ने विचरन्राम विटपीन्माल्यधारिणः । शीतोदकं च पम्पाया दृष्ट्वा शोकं विहास्यसि ॥ ३-७३-२०sAyAhne vicaranrAma viTapInmAlyadhAriNaH । zItodakaM ca pampAyA dRSTvA zokaM vihAsyasi ॥ 3-73-20When you stroll in the evening, you will see the trees laden with blossoms and lake Pampa full of cool water. You will forget your grief. ॥ 3-73-20॥
