    श्रीशुक उवाच यदा प्रचेतसः पुत्रा दश प्राचीनबर्हिषः । अन्तःसमुद्रादुन्मग्ना ददृशुर्गां द्रुमैर्वृताम् ॥ ६-४-४ ॥zrIzuka uvAca yadA pracetasaH putrA daza prAcInabarhiSaH । antaHsamudrAdunmagnA dadRzurgAM drumairvRtAm ॥ 6-4-4 ॥Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: When the ten sons of Prācīnabarhi emerged from the waters, in which they were performing austerities, they saw that the entire surface of the world was covered by trees. ॥ 6-4-4 ॥

    सूत उवाच इति सम्प्रश्नमाकर्ण्य राजर्षेर्बादरायणिः । प्रतिनन्द्य महायोगी जगाद मुनिसत्तमाः ॥ ६-४-३ ॥sUta uvAca iti sampraznamAkarNya rAjarSerbAdarAyaNiH । pratinandya mahAyogI jagAda munisattamAH ॥ 6-4-3 ॥Sūta Gosvāmī said: O great sages ॥ assembled at Naimiṣāraṇya॥, after the great yogi Śukadeva Gosvāmī heard King Parīkṣit’s inquiry, he praised it and thus replied. ॥ 6-4-3 ॥

    तस्यैव व्यासमिच्छामि ज्ञातुं ते भगवन् यथा । अनुसर्गं यया शक्त्या ससर्ज भगवान् परः ॥ ६-४-२ ॥tasyaiva vyAsamicchAmi jJAtuM te bhagavan yathA । anusargaM yayA zaktyA sasarja bhagavAn paraH ॥ 6-4-2 ॥You have spoken about this creation briefly ॥ in the Third Canto॥. Now I wish to know about it elaborately. I also wish to know about the potency of the Supreme Personality of Godhead by which He brought about the secondary creation. ॥ 6-4-2 ॥

    राजोवाच देवासुरनृणां सर्गो नागानां मृगपक्षिणाम् । सामासिकस्त्वया प्रोक्तो यस्तु स्वायम्भुवेऽन्तरे ॥ ६-४-१ ॥rAjovAca devAsuranRNAM sargo nAgAnAM mRgapakSiNAm । sAmAsikastvayA prokto yastu svAyambhuve'ntare ॥ 6-4-1 ॥The blessed King said to Śukadeva Gosvāmī: My dear lord, the demigods, demons, human beings, Nāgas, beasts and birds were created during the reign of Svāyambhuva Manu. ॥ 6-4-1 ॥

He stood in the sky showing his form and looking at Rama, said, 'Make friendship with Sugriva'. ॥ 3-73-45॥

    कबन्धस्त्वनुशास्यैवं तावुभौ रामलक्ष्मणौ । स्रग्वी भास्करवर्णाभः खे व्यरोचत वीर्यवान् ॥ ३-७३-४२kabandhastvanuzAsyaivaM tAvubhau rAmalakSmaNau । sragvI bhAskaravarNAbhaH khe vyarocata vIryavAn ॥ 3-73-42Having instructed both Rama and Lakshmana, courageous Kabandha, wearing a flowergarland, shone brightly like the Sun in the sky. ॥ 3-73-42॥

    तस्यां वसति सुग्रीवश्चतुर्भिस्सह वानरैः । कदाचिच्छिखरे तस्य पर्वतस्यावतिष्ठते ॥ ३-७३-४१tasyAM vasati sugrIvazcaturbhissaha vAnaraiH । kadAcicchikhare tasya parvatasyAvatiSThate ॥ 3-73-41Sugriva dwells in that cave with four other monkeys. At times he sits on the top of the mountain.' ॥ 3-73-41॥

On its bank teeming with various animals are delightful fruits and roots. ॥ 3-73-40॥
