नि प॒स्त्या॑सु त्रि॒तः स्त॑भू॒यन्परि॑वीतो॒ योनौ॑ सीदद॒न्तः । अत॑: सं॒गृभ्या॑ वि॒शां दमू॑ना॒ विध॑र्मणाय॒न्त्रैरी॑यते॒ नॄन् ॥ नि पस्त्यासु त्रितः स्तभूयन्परिवीतो योनौ सीददन्तः । अतः संगृभ्या विशां दमूना विधर्मणायन्त्रैरीयते नॄन् ॥

sanskrit

Occupying three (satations), consolidation (the dwelling of the worshipper), surrounded (by flames),he sits down upon the altar in the chambers (of sacrifice); from there, having accepted (the oblations) of thepeople, with intent to give (them to the gods), in various ways, he (Agni) goes to the gods holding (his foes) in check.

english translation

ni pa॒styA॑su tri॒taH sta॑bhU॒yanpari॑vIto॒ yonau॑ sIdada॒ntaH | ata॑: saM॒gRbhyA॑ vi॒zAM damU॑nA॒ vidha॑rmaNAya॒ntrairI॑yate॒ nRRn || ni pastyAsu tritaH stabhUyanparivIto yonau sIdadantaH | ataH saMgRbhyA vizAM damUnA vidharmaNAyantrairIyate nRRn ||

अ॒स्याजरा॑सो द॒माम॒रित्रा॑ अ॒र्चद्धू॑मासो अ॒ग्नय॑: पाव॒काः । श्वि॒ती॒चय॑: श्वा॒त्रासो॑ भुर॒ण्यवो॑ वन॒र्षदो॑ वा॒यवो॒ न सोमा॑: ॥ अस्याजरासो दमामरित्रा अर्चद्धूमासो अग्नयः पावकाः । श्वितीचयः श्वात्रासो भुरण्यवो वनर्षदो वायवो न सोमाः ॥

The undecaying fires of the worshipper, the rescuers from the humiliated (spirits of ill), havingadorable smoke, purifying, becoming white, swift, bearing (the oblation), sitting in the wood, (are) like the fast-flowing Soma.

a॒syAjarA॑so da॒mAma॒ritrA॑ a॒rcaddhU॑mAso a॒gnaya॑: pAva॒kAH | zvi॒tI॒caya॑: zvA॒trAso॑ bhura॒Nyavo॑ vana॒rSado॑ vA॒yavo॒ na somA॑: || asyAjarAso damAmaritrA arcaddhUmAso agnayaH pAvakAH | zvitIcayaH zvAtrAso bhuraNyavo vanarSado vAyavo na somAH ||

प्र जि॒ह्वया॑ भरते॒ वेपो॑ अ॒ग्निः प्र व॒युना॑नि॒ चेत॑सा पृथि॒व्याः । तमा॒यव॑: शु॒चय॑न्तं पाव॒कं म॒न्द्रं होता॑रं दधिरे॒ यजि॑ष्ठम् ॥ प्र जिह्वया भरते वेपो अग्निः प्र वयुनानि चेतसा पृथिव्याः । तमायवः शुचयन्तं पावकं मन्द्रं होतारं दधिरे यजिष्ठम् ॥

Agni, who bears off (the oblation) with his tongue (of flames), who bears off the hymns of praise with(favourable) mind (for the preservation) of the earth; him men appointed as the shining, purifying, exulting hotā,the most entitled to worship.

pra ji॒hvayA॑ bharate॒ vepo॑ a॒gniH pra va॒yunA॑ni॒ ceta॑sA pRthi॒vyAH | tamA॒yava॑: zu॒caya॑ntaM pAva॒kaM ma॒ndraM hotA॑raM dadhire॒ yaji॑STham || pra jihvayA bharate vepo agniH pra vayunAni cetasA pRthivyAH | tamAyavaH zucayantaM pAvakaM mandraM hotAraM dadhire yajiSTham ||

द्यावा॒ यम॒ग्निं पृ॑थि॒वी जनि॑ष्टा॒माप॒स्त्वष्टा॒ भृग॑वो॒ यं सहो॑भिः । ई॒ळेन्यं॑ प्रथ॒मं मा॑त॒रिश्वा॑ दे॒वास्त॑तक्षु॒र्मन॑वे॒ यज॑त्रम् ॥ द्यावा यमग्निं पृथिवी जनिष्टामापस्त्वष्टा भृगवो यं सहोभिः । ईळेन्यं प्रथमं मातरिश्वा देवास्ततक्षुर्मनवे यजत्रम् ॥

Agni, whom heaven and earth engendered, (whom) the waters and Tvaṣṭā, and the Bṛghus by theirpowers (begot),; the adorable one, whom Mātariśvan first, and the gods fabricated as the object of worship of Manu.

dyAvA॒ yama॒gniM pR॑thi॒vI jani॑STA॒mApa॒stvaSTA॒ bhRga॑vo॒ yaM saho॑bhiH | I॒LenyaM॑ pratha॒maM mA॑ta॒rizvA॑ de॒vAsta॑takSu॒rmana॑ve॒ yaja॑tram || dyAvA yamagniM pRthivI janiSTAmApastvaSTA bhRgavo yaM sahobhiH | ILenyaM prathamaM mAtarizvA devAstatakSurmanave yajatram ||

यं त्वा॑ दे॒वा द॑धि॒रे ह॑व्य॒वाहं॑ पुरु॒स्पृहो॒ मानु॑षासो॒ यज॑त्रम् । स याम॑न्नग्ने स्तुव॒ते वयो॑ धा॒: प्र दे॑व॒यन्य॒शस॒: सं हि पू॒र्वीः ॥ यं त्वा देवा दधिरे हव्यवाहं पुरुस्पृहो मानुषासो यजत्रम् । स यामन्नग्ने स्तुवते वयो धाः प्र देवयन्यशसः सं हि पूर्वीः ॥

You, whom the gods appointed as the bearer of oblations, whom men, desiring manifold blessings,regard as the object of worship; do you, Agni, bestow food upon him who praises you at the sacrifice; for thedevout worshipper verily obtains great renown.
