[वै] यदार्जुनेन ते वीराः कथिताः पञ्च पाण्डवाः तदार्जुनस्य वैराटिः कथयाम आस विक्रमम ॥ ४-६६-११ ॥

‘Vaisampayana continued, ‘O king, when those heroes, the five Pandavas, were described unto thee, Uttara then recounted to thee the valour and exploits of Arjuna.’’ ॥ 4-66-11 ॥

english translation

[vai] yadArjunena te vIrAH kathitAH paJca pANDavAH tadArjunasya vairATiH kathayAma Asa vikramama ॥ 4-66-11 ॥

अयं स दविषतां मध्ये मृगाणाम इव केसरी अचरद रथवृन्देषु निघ्नंस तेषां वरान वरान ॥ ४-६६-१२ ॥

‘That one, whose complexion shines like pure gold, whose frame is as stout as a full-grown lion, whose nose is prominent, whose eyes are large and expansive, and whose face is broad with a coppery hue, is the king of the Kurus.’ ॥ 4-66-12 ॥

english translation

ayaM sa daviSatAM madhye mRgANAma iva kesarI acarada rathavRndeSu nighnaMsa teSAM varAna varAna ॥ 4-66-12 ॥

अनेन विद्धॊ मातङ्गॊ महान एक्केषुणा हतः हिरण्यकक्ष्यः संग्रामे दन्ताभ्याम अगमन महीम ॥ ४-६६-१३ ॥

‘By him was a huge, enraged elephant felled with a single arrow. Struck down, that colossal beast, its flanks adorned with golden armour, crashed to the ground, driving its tusks deep into the earth.’ ॥ 4-66-13 ॥

anena viddhò mAtaGgò mahAna ekkeSuNA hataH hiraNyakakSyaH saMgrAme dantAbhyAma agamana mahIma ॥ 4-66-13 ॥

अनेन विजिता गावॊ जिताश च कुरवॊ युधि अस्य शङ्खप्रणादेन कर्णौ मे बधिरी कृतौ ॥ ४-६६-१४ ॥

‘It was he who recovered the kine and routed the Kauravas in battle. The blare of his conch has thundered so loudly that it still deafens my ears.’ ॥ 4-66-14 ॥

anena vijitA gAvò jitAza ca kuravò yudhi asya zaGkhapraNAdena karNau me badhirI kRtau ॥ 4-66-14 ॥

तस्य तद वचनं शरुत्वा मत्स्यराजः परतापवान उत्तरं परत्युवाचेदम अभिपन्नॊ युधिष्ठिरे ॥ ४-६६-१५ ॥

‘Vaisampayana continued, 'Hearing these words, the mighty king of the Matsyas, feeling remorseful for having offended Yudhishthira, turned to Uttara and said in reply,'’ ॥ 4-66-15 ॥

tasya tada vacanaM zarutvA matsyarAjaH paratApavAna uttaraM paratyuvAcedama abhipannò yudhiSThire ॥ 4-66-15 ॥
