ततः परहस्य बीभत्सुः पृथु धारेण कार्मुकम नयकृन्तद गार्ध्रपत्रेण भीष्मस्यामिततेजसः ॥ ४-५९-४१ ॥

'At this, Vibhatsu, laughing aloud, severed with a keen-edged arrow, winged like a vulture, the bow of Bhīṣma, that hero radiant as the sun.' ॥ 4-59-41 ॥

tataH parahasya bIbhatsuH pRthu dhAreNa kArmukama nayakRntada gArdhrapatreNa bhISmasyAmitatejasaH ॥ 4-59-41 ॥

अथैनं दशभिर बाणैर परत्यविध्यत सतनान्तरे यतमानं पराक्रान्तं कुन्तीपुत्रॊ धनंजयः ॥ ४-५९-४२ ॥

'Then Dhananjaya, the son of Kunti, pierced Bhīṣma in the breast with ten shafts, even as the latter contended with all his might.' ॥ 4-59-42 ॥

athainaM dazabhira bANaira paratyavidhyata satanAntare yatamAnaM parAkrAntaM kuntIputrò dhanaMjayaH ॥ 4-59-42 ॥

स पीडितॊ महाबाहुर गृहीत्वा रथकूबरम गाङ्गेयॊ युधि दुर्धर्षस तस्थौ दीर्घम इवातुरः ॥ ४-५९-४३ ॥

'Greatly afflicted by the pain, Ganga’s son—mighty-armed and irresistible in battle—stood for a long while, leaning upon the pole of his chariot.' ॥ 4-59-43 ॥

तं विसंज्ञम अपॊवाह संयन्ता रथवाजिनाम उपदेशम अनुस्मृत्य रक्षमाणॊ महारथम ॥ ४-५९-४४ ॥

'Observing him thus deprived of consciousness, the charioteer, mindful of the instructions regarding the protection of warriors in a swoon, quickly withdrew him to safety.' ॥ 4-59-44 ॥
