ततः परहस्य बीभत्सुः पृथु धारेण कार्मुकम नयकृन्तद गार्ध्रपत्रेण भीष्मस्यामिततेजसः ।। ४-५९-४१ ।।

sanskrit

'At this, Vibhatsu, laughing aloud, severed with a keen-edged arrow, winged like a vulture, the bow of Bhīṣma, that hero radiant as the sun.' ।। 4-59-41 ।।

english translation

tataH parahasya bIbhatsuH pRthu dhAreNa kArmukama nayakRntada gArdhrapatreNa bhISmasyAmitatejasaH || 4-59-41 ||

अथैनं दशभिर बाणैर परत्यविध्यत सतनान्तरे यतमानं पराक्रान्तं कुन्तीपुत्रॊ धनंजयः ।। ४-५९-४२ ।।

'Then Dhananjaya, the son of Kunti, pierced Bhīṣma in the breast with ten shafts, even as the latter contended with all his might.' ।। 4-59-42 ।।

athainaM dazabhira bANaira paratyavidhyata satanAntare yatamAnaM parAkrAntaM kuntIputrò dhanaMjayaH || 4-59-42 ||

'Greatly afflicted by the pain, Ganga’s son—mighty-armed and irresistible in battle—stood for a long while, leaning upon the pole of his chariot.' ।। 4-59-43 ।।

'Observing him thus deprived of consciousness, the charioteer, mindful of the instructions regarding the protection of warriors in a swoon, quickly withdrew him to safety.' ।। 4-59-44 ।।
