ततः कनकपुङ्खानां शरवृष्टिं समुत्थिताम पाण्डवस्य रथात तूर्णं शलभानांम इवायतिम वयधमत तां पुनस तस्य भीष्मः शरशतैः शितैः ॥ ४-५९-१६ ॥
'And then, from the car of the son of Pāṇḍu, there descended a ceaseless rain of arrows, winged with gold, sweeping across the sky like a flight of locusts. And Bhīṣma once more repelled that arrowy shower with hundreds of keenly whetted shafts loosed by his hand.' ॥ 4-59-16 ॥
english translation
tataH kanakapuGkhAnAM zaravRSTiM samutthitAma pANDavasya rathAta tUrNaM zalabhAnAMma ivAyatima vayadhamata tAM punasa tasya bhISmaH zarazataiH zitaiH ॥ 4-59-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततस ते कुरवः सर्वे साधु साध्व इति चाब्रुवन दुष्करं कृतवान भीष्मॊ यद अर्जुनम अयॊधयत ॥ ४-५९-१७ ॥
'And then the Kauravas exclaimed, ‘Excellent! Excellent!’ For Bhīṣma had achieved a deed of the utmost difficulty, in that he had dared to contend with Arjuna himself.' ॥ 4-59-17 ॥

tatasa te kuravaH sarve sAdhu sAdhva iti cAbruvana duSkaraM kRtavAna bhISmò yada arjunama ayòdhayata ॥ 4-59-17 ॥

'And repelling weapons with weapons, those two bulls of the Bharata race, both endowed with prodigious might, contended as if in sport, bewildering the eyes of all created beings.' ॥ 4-59-20 ॥
