'But the son of Pāṇḍu, of immeasurable soul, hurled in return a divine missile upon Bhīṣma, receiving his attack as a mountain receives a mass of storm-laden clouds.' ।। 4-59-11 ।।
'And, O king, as Arjuna poured forth arrows with both right and left hands, the Gandīva, ever bent in his grasp, seemed to whirl like a continuous circle of fire.' ।। 4-59-12 ।।
'Then the son of Kuntī covered Bhīṣma with hundreds of sharp, keen-edged arrows, as a rain-cloud veils the breast of a mountain with its heavy downpour.' ।। 4-59-13 ।।
'But Bhīṣma, baffling that arrowy shower with his own shafts, like a bank holding back the swelling sea, in turn covered the son of Pāṇḍu with his weapons.' ।। 4-59-14 ।।
