ततॊ दरौणिर महावीर्यः पार्थस्य विचरिष्यतः विवरं सूक्ष्मम आलॊक्य जयां चिच्छेद कषुरेण ह तद अस्यापूजयन देवाः कर्म दृष्ट्वाति मानुषम ॥ ४-५४-६ ॥
'As the son of Pritha moved about the battlefield, the powerful son of Drona, seizing a narrow opening, cut the string of the Gandiva with a razor-edged arrow. Beholding that feat—beyond the skill of men—the gods themselves applauded him, exclaiming, ‘Well done! Well done!'' ॥ 4-54-6 ॥

tatò darauNira mahAvIryaH pArthasya vicariSyataH vivaraM sUkSmama Alòkya jayAM ciccheda kaSureNa ha tada asyApUjayana devAH karma dRSTvAti mAnuSama ॥ 4-54-6 ॥

'Drona, Bhishma, Karna, and the mighty Kripa also praised him greatly. Then, drawing his excellent bow, Drona’s son struck Partha’s chest with shafts tipped with Kanka feathers.' ॥ 4-54-7 ॥

tatò darauNira dhanUMSya aSTau vayapakramya nararSabhama punara abhyAhanata pArthaM hRdaye kaGkapatribhiH ॥ 4-54-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततः पार्थॊ महाबाहुः परहस्य सवनवत तदा यॊजयाम आस नवया मौर्व्या गाण्डीवम ओजसा ॥ ४-५४-८ ॥
'Then Partha, the mighty-armed, with a loud, resonant laugh, swiftly restrung the Gandiva with a new bowstring of murva fibre, his hands moving with irresistible force.' ॥ 4-54-8 ॥

tataH pArthò mahAbAhuH parahasya savanavata tadA yòjayAma Asa navayA maurvyA gANDIvama ojasA ॥ 4-54-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततॊ ऽरधचन्द्रम आवृत्य तेन पार्थः समागमत वारणेनेव मत्तेन मत्तॊ वारणयूथपः ॥ ४-५४-९ ॥
'And moistening his bowstring with the sweat upon his brow, shining like the crescent moon, the son of Pritha advanced upon his foe like an infuriated lord of elephants charging another in rut.' ॥ 4-54-9 ॥

'The clash that followed between those two unmatched heroes on the battlefield was so fierce that it made the hair of the onlookers stand on end.' ॥ 4-54-10 ॥
