ततॊ नागा रथाश चैव सादिनश च विशां पते शॊणिताक्ता वयदृश्यन्त पुष्पिता इव किंशुकाः ॥ ४-५३-५१ ॥
'O king, the elephants, chariots, and horsemen, bathed in blood, appeared like kiṃśuka trees crowned with crimson blossoms.' ॥ 4-53-51 ॥
english translation
tatò nAgA rathAza caiva sAdinaza ca vizAM pate zòNitAktA vayadRzyanta puSpitA iva kiMzukAH ॥ 4-53-51 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptबाहुभिश च स केयूरैर विचित्रैश च महारथैः सुवर्णचित्रैः कवचैर धवजैश च विनिपातितैः ॥ ४-५३-५२ ॥
'And in that encounter between Droṇa and Arjuna, the battlefield lay strewn with severed arms adorned with bracelets .' ॥ 4-53-52 ॥

bAhubhiza ca sa keyUraira vicitraiza ca mahArathaiH suvarNacitraiH kavacaira dhavajaiza ca vinipAtitaiH ॥ 4-53-52 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयॊधैश चनिहतैस तत्र पार्थ बाणप्रपीडितैः बलम आसीत समुद्भ्रान्तं दरॊणार्जुन समागमे ॥ ४-५३-५३ ॥
' .with splendidly attired chariot-warriors, with mail of gold-inlaid design, and with banners scattered in disarray—while warriors fell to the shafts of Pārtha.' ॥ 4-53-53 ॥

yòdhaiza canihataisa tatra pArtha bANaprapIDitaiH balama AsIta samudbhrAntaM daròNArjuna samAgame ॥ 4-53-53 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविधुन्वानौ तु तौ वीरौ धनुर ई भारसाधने आच्छायदेताम अन्यॊन्यं तितक्षन्तौ रणेषुभिः ॥ ४-५३-५४ ॥
'At the sight of this carnage, the Kuru host was seized with terror. And then, grasping their mighty bows, capable of bearing great strain, the combatants began to veil one another in clouds of arrows, each striving to weaken the other.' ॥ 4-53-54 ॥

vidhunvAnau tu tau vIrau dhanura I bhArasAdhane AcchAyadetAma anyònyaM titakSantau raNeSubhiH ॥ 4-53-54 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथान्तरिक्षे नादॊ ऽभूद दरॊणं तत्र परशंसताम दुष्करं कृतवान दरॊणॊ यद अर्जुनम अयॊधयत ॥ ४-५३-५५ ॥
'Then a voice was heard in the heavens, applauding Droṇa: "A deed most difficult has the preceptor accomplished, for he fights with Arjuna."' ॥ 4-53-55 ॥
