सपृष्टवन्तं शरीरं मां शववाहम इवाशुचिम कथं वा वयवहार्यं वै कुर्वीथास तवं बृहन्नडे ।। ४-३८-११ ।।

sanskrit

'Why, O Vrihannala, would you make me impure—unclean—like a bearer of the dead, by forcing me into contact with it?' ।। 4-38-11 ।।

english translation

sapRSTavantaM zarIraM mAM zavavAhama ivAzucima kathaM vA vayavahAryaM vai kurvIthAsa tavaM bRhannaDe || 4-38-11 ||

[बृहन] वयवहार्यश च राजेन्द्र शुचिश चैव भविष्यसि धनूंष्य एतानि मां भैस तवं शरीरं नात्र विद्यते ।। ४-३८-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'Vrihannala said: "O king of kings, you shall remain pure and untouched by defilement—have no fear. There are only bows hidden in this tree, not corpses."' ।। 4-38-12 ।।

english translation

[bRhana] vayavahAryaza ca rAjendra zuciza caiva bhaviSyasi dhanUMSya etAni mAM bhaisa tavaM zarIraM nAtra vidyate || 4-38-12 ||

'You are the heir to the king of the Matsyas, born of a noble lineage—why, O prince, would I ever compel you to perform an act so base and reproachable?' ।। 4-38-13 ।।

english translation

  dAyAdaM matsyarAjasya kule jAtaM manasvinama kathaM tavA ninditaM karma kArayeyaM nRpAtmaja || 4-38-13 ||

'Vaiśampāyana said: “Thus addressed by Pārtha, the son of Virāṭa, adorned with earrings, descended from the chariot and, though reluctant, climbed the Śamī tree.”' ।। 4-38-14 ।।

  [vai] evama uktaH sa pArthena rathAta paraskandya kuNDalI Aruròha zamI vRkSaM vairATira avazasa tadA || 4-38-14 ||

  तम अन्वशासच छत्रुघ्नॊ रथे तिष्ठन धनंजयः परिवेष्टनम एतेषां कषिप्रं चैव वयपानुद ।। ४-३८-१५ ।।

'O Arjuna (Dhananjaya), standing on the chariot, you and Shatrughna should quickly dispel/drive away the encirclement of these (enemies).' ।। 4-38-15 ।।
