'Vaiśampāyana said: "Upon reaching the Śamī tree and observing that Virāṭa's son was gentle by nature and unskilled in warfare, Pārtha turned to him and said—"' ।। 4-38-1 ।।
समादिष्टॊ मया कषिप्रं धनूंष्य अवहरॊत्तर नेमानि हि तवदीयानि सॊढुं शक्यन्ति मे बलम ।। ४-३८-२ ।।
'Enjoined by me, O Uttara, quickly climb this tree and bring down the bows stored there. For these bows of yours cannot endure my strength.' ।। 4-38-2 ।।
'Therefore, O Bhūminjaya, climb this Śamī tree with its spreading foliage; for within it lie the bows of the sons of Pāṇḍu, carefully hidden away.' ।। 4-38-4 ।।
युथिष्ठिरस्य भीमस्य बीभत्षॊर यमयॊस तथा धवजाः शराश च शूराणां दिव्यानि कवचानि च ।। ४-३८-५ ।।
'Within its branches lie concealed the bows, arrows, banners, and splendid coats of mail belonging to the heroic sons of Pāṇḍu — Yudhishṭhira, Bhīma, Vibhatsu, and the twin brothers.' ।। 4-38-5 ।।
