[वै] अथ राजा तरिगर्तानां सुशर्मा रथयूथपः पराप्तकालम इदं वाक्यम उचाव तवरितॊ भृशम ॥ ४-२९-१ ॥
'Vaishampayana said: O monarch, the mighty king of the Trigartas, Susarman—possessed of countless chariots and repeatedly humbled in the past by Kichaka the Suta of Matsya, aided by the Matsyas and the Salyas—now saw the moment as opportune. Without delay, seizing upon the occasion, he spoke these words with great urgency.' ॥ 4-29-1 ॥

[vai] atha rAjA tarigartAnAM suzarmA rathayUthapaH parAptakAlama idaM vAkyama ucAva tavaritò bhRzama ॥ 4-29-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअसकृन निकृतः पूर्वं मत्स्यैः साल्वेयकैः सह सूतेन चैव मत्स्यस्य कीचकेन पुनः पुनः ॥ ४-२९-२ ॥
'I have been repeatedly humiliated in the past by the Matsyas, in alliance with the Salveyas— and again and again by the Suta Kichaka, the powerful chief of the Matsyas.' ॥ 4-29-2 ॥
english translation
asakRna nikRtaH pUrvaM matsyaiH sAlveyakaiH saha sUtena caiva matsyasya kIcakena punaH punaH ॥ 4-29-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptबाधितॊ बन्धुभिः सार्धं बलाद बलवता विभॊ स कर्णम अभ्युदीक्ष्याथ दुर्यॊधनम अभाषत ॥ ४-२९-३ ॥
'And, O king, having been repeatedly overpowered by the mighty Kichaka, even while surrounded by my own kin, I was forcibly subdued. Now, turning to Karna, Susarman said to Duryodhana:' ॥ 4-29-3 ॥

bAdhitò bandhubhiH sArdhaM balAda balavatA vibhò sa karNama abhyudIkSyAtha duryòdhanama abhASata ॥ 4-29-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअसकृन मत्स्यराज्ञा मे राष्ट्रं बाधितम ओजसा परणेता कीचकश चास्य बलवान अभवत पुरा ॥ ४-२९-४ ॥
'My kingdom has often been invaded by the king of the Matsyas, with the powerful Kichaka serving as his commander.' ॥ 4-29-4 ॥

asakRna matsyarAjJA me rASTraM bAdhitama ojasA paraNetA kIcakaza cAsya balavAna abhavata purA ॥ 4-29-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकरूरॊ ऽमर्षी स दुष्टात्मा भुवि परख्यातविक्रमः निहतस तत्र गन्धर्वैः पापकर्मा नृशंसवान ॥ ४-२९-५ ॥
'That wretch—crooked in conduct, wrathful, and wicked-hearted—was renowned across the world for his prowess, yet was sinful in deed and exceedingly cruel. But now, slain by the Gandharvas, Kichaka is no more.' ॥ 4-29-5 ॥

karUrò 'marSI sa duSTAtmA bhuvi parakhyAtavikramaH nihatasa tatra gandharvaiH pApakarmA nRzaMsavAna ॥ 4-29-5 ॥
