ममेह भीमकैकेयी रूपाभिभव शङ्कया नित्यम उद्जिवते राजा कथं नेयाद इमाम इती ॥ ४-२०-१६ ॥
'O Bhima, Kaikeyi, envious of my beauty, constantly troubles me with her efforts to prevent the king from favoring me.' ॥ 4-20-16 ॥

तस्या विदित्वा तं भावं सवयं चानृत दर्शनः कीचकॊ ऽयं सुदुष्टात्मा सदा परार्थयते हि माम ॥ ४-२०-१७ ॥
'And aware of this, the wicked-hearted and immoral Kichaka persistently makes advances toward me himself.' ॥ 4-20-17 ॥
english translation
तम अहं कुपिता भीम पुनः कॊपं नियम्य च अब्रुवं कामसंमूढम आत्मानं रक्ष कीचक ॥ ४-२०-१८ ॥
'Angry with him for this, yet restraining my wrath, I said to that wretch, maddened by lust: ‘Protect thyself, O Kichaka."' ॥ 4-20-18 ॥

गन्धर्वाणाम अहं भार्या पञ्चानां महिषी परिया ते तवां निहन्युर दुर्धर्षाः शूराः साहस कारिणः ॥ ४-२०-१९ ॥
'I am the beloved wife of five mighty Gandharvas. If angered, those heroes will surely slay thee, so reckless in thy desire.’' ॥ 4-20-19 ॥

एवम उक्तः स दुष्टात्मा कीचकः परत्युवाच ह नाहं बिभेमि सैरन्धिर गन्धर्वाणां शुचिस्मिते ॥ ४-२०-२० ॥
'Thus addressed, that wicked-souled Kichaka said to me: "O Sairindhri of sweet smiles, I do not fear the Gandharvas in the least."' ॥ 4-20-20 ॥
