'Vaisampayana said, ‘Living in such disguise, those mighty warriors, the sons of Pritha, spent ten months concealed within the city of Matsya.'' ।। 4-13-1 ।।
'And, O monarch, though worthy of reverence herself, the daughter of Yajnasena—O Janamejaya—endured great hardship, serving Queen Sudeshna.' ।। 4-13-2 ।।
'And it so happened that as the year neared its close, the formidable Kichaka, commander of Virata’s forces, caught sight of the daughter of Drupada. Beholding that radiant lady—resplendent like a celestial and moving with the grace of a goddess—Kichaka, pierced by the arrows of desire, sought to possess her.' ।। 4-13-4 ।।
स तु कामाग्निसंतप्तः सुदेष्णाम अभिगम्य वै परहसन्न इव सेना नीर इदं वचनम अब्रवीत ।। ४-१३-५ ।।
'Burning with the fire of desire, Kichaka, the commander of Virata's forces, approached his sister Sudeshna and, wearing a smile, spoke these words to her:' ।। 4-13-5 ।।
