Duryodhana, however, angered, urged on the Māgadha commander and a formation of ten thousand powerful elephants; placing the Māgadha in front, he advanced toward Bhīmasena.

english translation

Seeing that elephant formation advancing, Vṛkodara, mace in hand, descended from his chariot, roaring like a lion.

english translation

Grasping his massive, heavy mace—hard as mountain stone—he charged toward the elephant formation, like Antaka (Death) with mouth agape.

english translation

In the thick of battle, the mighty Bhīmasena ranged through the fray, striking down the elephants with his mace, like Vāsava (Indra) bearing the thunderbolt.

english translation

By his mighty roar, which shook both mind and heart, the elephants massed together fell into disorder as Bhīma thundered.
