Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: “I deem fate alone to be supreme, even above human endeavor, O Sañjaya, since my son’s army is being brought to ruin by the army of the Pāṇḍavas.”

english translation

For you continually report my men, dear one, as though already slain; and you continually describe the Pāṇḍavas as untroubled and exultant.

english translation

Today, O Sañjaya, you portray my men as wanting in exertion—fallen, being driven back, and as though already destroyed.

english translation

Even though they fight with all their might and strive for victory, the Pāṇḍavas prevail, and my side is overcome.

english translation

Thus, dear one, I have continually heard of intense sufferings—many difficult to endure—brought about by Duryodhana.
