As he pondered thus, the Grandfather (Bhīṣma), ever more incensed, once again loosed volleys of arrows toward Pārtha’s chariot.

english translation

By the sheer multitude of those arrows, all directions seemed veiled. Neither the sky, nor the quarters, nor the earth—nor even the sun, wreathed in rays—could be clearly seen. Tumultuous winds, as though smoky, blew, and every direction appeared disturbed.

english translation

Droṇa, Vikarṇa, and Jayadratha; Bhūriśravā, Kṛtavarmā, and Kṛpa; Śrutāyus, the king who was lord of the Ambaṣṭhas; and also Vindā and Anuvindā, and Sudakṣiṇa—

english translation

The Prācyas, all the Sauvīra contingents, the Vasātis, and the Kṣudraka-Mālavās rushed in haste toward Kirīṭin (Arjuna), acting under the command of the Śāṃtanava king (Bhīṣma).

english translation

Śini’s grandson beheld Kiriṭin (Arjuna) closely hemmed in by dense arrays of cavalry, infantry, and chariot-units—by many hundreds and thousands—together with the leaders of the elephant contingents.
