अयं स कालः संप्राप्तः पार्थ यः काङ्क्षितस्त्वया । प्रहरास्मै नरव्याघ्र न चेन्मोहाद्विमुह्यसे॥६-५५-४१॥
This is that moment now arrived, O Pārtha, which you had desired. Strike at him, tiger among men—unless you are being confused by delusion.

यत्त्वया कथितं वीर पुरा राज्ञां समागमे । भीष्मद्रोणमुखान्सर्वान्धार्तराष्ट्रस्य सैनिकान्॥६-५५-४२॥
What you declared earlier, O hero, in the assembly of kings—concerning all the soldiers of Dhārtarāṣṭra, with Bhīṣma and Droṇa at their head—
english translation
सानुबन्धान्हनिष्यामि ये मां योत्स्यन्ति संयुगे । इति तत्कुरु कौन्तेय सत्यं वाक्यमरिंदम॥६-५५-४३॥
‘I shall neutralize, together with their allies, those who will engage me in battle’—thus you said. Do that now, O Kaunteya; make your statement true, O subduer of foes.

बीभत्सो पश्य सैन्यं स्वं भज्यमानं समन्ततः । द्रवतश्च महीपालान्सर्वान्यौधिष्ठिरे बले॥६-५५-४४॥
O Bībhatsu, look at your own army breaking on every side, and at all the kings fleeing within Yudhiṣṭhira’s force.
english translation
दृष्ट्वा हि समरे भीष्मं व्यात्ताननमिवान्तकम् । भयार्ताः संप्रणश्यन्ति सिंहं क्षुद्रमृगा इव॥६-५५-४५॥
For, upon seeing Bhīṣma in the battle—like Death with mouth agape—those tormented by fear scatter away, as small animals do at the sight of a lion.
