Though checked by Bhīṣma and by Droṇa, O lord of the people, that army still kept withdrawing, even as Droṇa and Bhīṣma looked on.

english translation

Then, as thousands of chariots fled in every direction, those two—Abhimanyu, son of Subhadrā, and the foremost of the Śinis—held their ground upon a single chariot and, in the fight, repeatedly shattered the Saubala host on all sides.

english translation

Then those two—Śaineya and the foremost of the Kurus—shone with splendor, like the moon and the sun appearing together in the sky on the night of amāvasyā, the new moon.

english translation

Thereafter Arjuna, inflamed with wrath, poured a dense shower of arrows upon your army, O lord of the people, like a rain-cloud casting down streams of water.

english translation

As it was struck in the engagement by Pārtha’s arrows, the Kaurava host then fell back, shaken by despair and fear.
