When the Cedis had withdrawn, the Pāṇḍava, pressed hard by all the Kaliṅgas, did not retreat, relying on the strength of his own arms.

english translation

Bhīmasena, of great strength, did not move from his chariot-platform; with sharp arrows he showered and covered the Kaliṅga formation.

english translation

Then the king of Kaliṅga, a mighty archer, and his son—the mahāratha famed as Śakradeva—struck the Pāṇḍava with arrows.

english translation

Thereafter Bhīma, strong-armed, shaking his splendid bow, engaged the Kaliṅgas in combat, relying on the power of his own arms.

english translation

Śakradeva, in the engagement, releasing many missiles, struck down Bhīmasena’s horses with his arrows; he poured forth volleys of arrows like a rain-cloud at the end of summer.
