Raised high upon an ivory staff, his radiant white parasol shone brilliantly. Great sages attended the king, circumambulating him in reverence and praising him with eulogies.

english translation

The chaplains—elder sages learned in sacred tradition—uttered formulas for the subduing of foes, and on every side performed protective rites with recitations, mantras, and medicinal herbs.

english translation

Then that great-souled best of the Kurus proceeded, having bestowed upon the Brahmins gifts—garments, cows, fruits, flowers, and also niṣkas, ornaments of gold—like Śakra distributing to the immortals.

english translation

Arjuna’s chariot—resplendent like a thousand suns, adorned with hundreds of bells, and inlaid with exquisite Jāmbūnada gold—shines like fire wreathed in flame, drawn by white horses and fitted with finely made wheels.

english translation

Mounted upon that chariot, held and guided by Keśava, bearing the monkey-banner, with Gāṇḍīva and arrows in hand—there is no archer on earth equal to him, nor will there ever be.
