When those divisions had been arranged in formation according to plan, Duryodhana, O great king, then addressed Duḥśāsana.

english translation

“Duḥśāsana, have the chariots swiftly harnessed under Bhīṣma’s protection, and promptly urge all the divisions onward.”

english translation

This long-anticipated convergence, contemplated through many years, has now come upon me: the meeting of the Pāṇḍavas with their forces, and of the Kurus as well.

english translation

I deem nothing more urgent in this battle than the protection of Bhīṣma; for if he is well guarded, he can decisively strike down the Pārthas, the Somakas, and the Sṛñjayas.

english translation

Then Bhīṣma, pure in soul, said: “I will not slay Śikhaṇḍin. It is heard that he was formerly a woman; therefore, in battle, he is to be avoided by me.”
